How to Choose the Right LED Flood Light

Onforu LED Flood Light with House

Excellent high-performance bulbs that not only protect your eyes from fatigue but also have the advantages of long life and power saving. The main purpose of LED flood lights is to make your lighting area brighter with high-intensity light. LED floodlights provide you with higher intensity light to solve your lighting needs and improve the outdoor security.

Benefits of using floodlights

Material Safety

LED Floodlight Structured

LED floodlights are designed with non-hazardous materials that do not contain lead, mercury or any other harmful elements and are safe for everyone if they are damaged. Unlike fluorescent, which are made primarily of glass, metal and mercury. As a result, fluorescent lamps are twice as hazardous when damaged (mercury exposure).

Long Life

LED floodlights have the longest life span. Tests have shown that LED floodlights can last for over 50,000 hours of use. That means nearly 5 years of continuous use of LED floodlights!

Efficiency

LED floodlights are cost-effective. Not only do they consume less power, they also provide better brightness. 130 lumens per watt are produced by LED floodlights, which is a reasonable rate.

High CRI

With a CRI of 80 compared to ideal or natural light sources, LED floodlights make objects and surfaces look realistic and non-artificial by up to 80%.

Installation

One of the qualities of LED floodlights is their ease of use. No expert is needed to install or replace LED floodlights. Convenient and quick, just one link to the power supply.

Beam Angle

Onforu LED Flood Light Beam Angle

LED floodlights offer a variety of beam angles (or diffusion angles) in the commercially available 15, 30, 45, 60 and 100 degree range for indoor use. Also included are 120 degree and 180 degree illumination.

Recyclability

Floodlights are recyclable! This is because LEDs do not contain any toxic substances. Some lamps should never be placed for recycling or thrown into the garbage, for example, fluorescent lamps cannot be recycled. They also need to be disposed of in a specific way.

How to choose the right LED floodlight for you?

While choosing the right floodlight depends on your lighting needs, there are a few things you should keep in mind before purchasing an LED floodlight.

Location

Onforu LED Flood Light Location

Do you want to install the LED floodlight indoors? Or outdoors? Or in your garage or basement? The choice of LED floodlights will vary in different use cases.

Beam Angle

Do you want distributed light or concentrated light? Deciding will help you choose the right beam angle for your needs with LED floodlights.

Luminous Efficiency

This determines how much energy the LED floodlight will save. So when you buy an LED floodlight, you need to look for "lumens per watt" because this is the unit of luminous efficiency. The higher the ratio, the more efficient the LED floodlight will be.

Heat Dissipation

This means whether the heat generated by the LED floodlight is well handled. Therefore, it protects the LED floodlight from damage due to overheating. A good heat sink has a high thermal conductivity.

Waterproof & Dustproof

LED Floodlight Waterproof

Waterproofing of LED floodlights is a must. It is an asset for specific environments, such as outdoor patios and playgrounds.

Color Rendering Index

This index determines whether the color of the LED floodlight will show up well under a specific light. For example, playground lighting requires a CRI of 80. For settings that retain concentrated light, such as art galleries, a super high CRI of 90 to 95 is sometimes required.

LED floodlights are a practical lighting option that can flood a large amount of light with good coverage.

What are the components of LED flood lights?

The floodlight consists of three components: optical, mechanical and electrical.

The optical components are mainly the reflector, the masking grating and the light source.

The mechanical components are mainly the housing, the focusing mechanism for fixing and adjusting the position of the light source, the bracket for fixing the luminaire, the base, and the angular direction part for adjusting the direction of projection of the luminaire beam.

For most enclosed floodlights, the mechanical parts also have protective glass and various sealing rings. Depending on the requirements of the application, some floodlights also have a metal mesh cover. Well-equipped floodlights are also equipped with air filters.

The main electrical components are ballasts, capacitors and triggers

LED Floodlights FAQ

What is the benefit of LED floodlights instead of traditional bulbs?

  1. Lower electricity costs because LED floodlights consume less electricity (cost-effective)
  2. Better brightness coverage, LED floodlights are widely used, providing you with a wider range and more security
  3. Less heat. LED floodlights are very efficient at cooling LED floodlights and drivers.
  4. LED floodlights have the longest life span
  5. LED floodlights do not contain mercury or other toxic substances
  6. LED floodlights are environmentally friendly and recyclable

How much money can I save with LED floodlights?

It depends on the type of floodlight you are switching to, and as LED floodlights become more cost effective over time, the change is never consistent. Currently, you can predict savings of at least 50% when converting fluorescent to LED floods and 70% or more when converting halogen or high-pressure sodium to LED floods.

Can I use LED floodlights outdoors?

Yes, actually. Some types of LED floodlights are designed for outdoor use, and LED floodlights come with waterproof accessories. Other types of floodlights need to remain in a waterproof unit. IP ratings are the specification you need to check. Almost every LED floodlight with an IP65 housing has water and dust resistant qualities, so you get the same high quality performance regardless of the weather or working environment conditions.

When I buy an LED floodlight, should it be based on watts or lumens?

You should always purchase an LED floodlight based on lumens; wattage is a number that indicates the amount of energy required to produce lumens from an LED floodlight. It is important to note that the higher the lumens per watt or lm/w. The higher the rate, the less energy is required to produce light from an LED floodlight.

Which is Better – LED Spotlight vs Floodlight?

The main difference between the two is reflected in the above table, it does not say that floodlight is better than a spotlight, or a spotlight is better than a floodlight. We have to combine personal lighting needs, use places, etc., to choose the right lighting needs for their own lamps.

This type of flood light can replace the outdated 500 watt halogen lights! Installing these fixtures this was easier than I thought it would be! Installation can be done in about 15 minutes! And the power savings they provide is unheard of! If you lack the knowledge to install these, call a professional! I am very handy when it comes to projects like this so I have no problem!
